This original family-owned company, which was founded in 1860, expanded from a single estate with various vineyard holdings to a company carrying a wide selection of fine German wines. It is now managed by the fourth generation and is one of the largest and most modern wineries in Germany. The facilities are capable of bottling 40,000 bottles an hour, supported by an average capacity of 27 million liters. Exports, go to over 25 countries world wide. German wines are well known for their acid freshness, and a lot of them have a relatively low alcohol content. The German appellation system is built according to areas on one hand, and ripeness level on the other hand, measured analytically in degree of grape sugar at the harvest time.
