Daniel Bessière
Maison Bessière was founded
in 1902 by Francois Bessière after years of experience working for other
wine producing companies. Direction of the company has been in the hands
of it’s third generation since 1963, in the person of Daniel Bessière.
Maison Bessière specializes
in the wines of Languedoc-Roussillon, and is one of the largest producers
of Appellation, Vin de Pays, and Vin de Tables wines from that region,
with estate and negociant bottlings. The stone aging cellar is one of
the largest in the region, and the barrel cellars are located in the
stone-built winery at the heart of the port of Mèze. Modern wine-making
facilities are combined with traditional stone buildings and cellars.
Current production is approximately 22 million bottles per year.
Old Vines Selection de
Madame

Vin de Pays du Gard Red
2003
Grape variety: 100% old Carignan vines, 65 to 75 years old.
Made at very low yields of
less than 30hl/ha, these concentrated grapes give the wines a complex
bouquet combining aromas of spices and black fruit. This nicely-balanced
wine finishes on silky tannins and boasts good length. Serve at around
18*C with delicatessen, white or red meat or stronger-tasting cheeses.
The Carignan variety is planted in all the French regions around the
Mediterranean. At low yield levels, it produces quite powerful wines
with good colour.
Le Domaine de Madame
This 45-hectare estate created in 1915 has always been run by
women. Emmanuelle Delon took over the estate in 1982 and set about replanting
vines of different varieties with a view to increasing production of
AOC wines.
However, she did keep the Carignan vines planted in 1930 and 1940, the
grapes of which are vinified separately to make the Vin de Pays du Gard
'Old Vines' cuvèes. These vines of between 60 and 75 years
old produce concentrated grapes that develop intense aromas of small
wild berries during the winemaking process, along with hints of black
pepper and mellow, silky tannins.

Fleur de Soliel
Vin de Pays de I'Hèrault
The last twenty years have seen profound restructuring of the Hèrault
vineyards, with the increasing use of Mediterranean grape varieties such as
Grenache. In parallel, applied research has enabled better adaptation of the
traditional varieties and optimisation of growing techniques. Separate
vinification of the grape varieties on the basis of ripeness and their behaviour
in vats has become the general rule. After that stage, the winegrowers pay very
close attention to the blending process.
Fleur de
Soleil, Vin de Pays de I'Hèrault Red 2003
Grape varieties: 33.3% Grenache, 33.3% Carignan, 33.3% Cinsault

astonishing fruity qualities, light and smooth on the palate.
