Caveau des Disciples

Côtes du Rhône

Côtes-du-Rhône is widely regarded as one of the best values of France. The wines are bright and fruity, lighter than Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but with similar flavors and spicy characteristics. The wines are produced in the Southern Rhône, in picturesque vineyards near Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Varieties:
Numerous and ancient grape varieties are used among the commonest: Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Carignan. Distinctive wines are produced thanks to the sun and the surrounding landscape.

Tasting Notes: Very palatable, with aromas of berries (blackcurrant and blackberry) and spices. The red fruit taste is quite strong with subtle tannin flavor. This is a pleasant and easy-to-drink wine.

La Roche-du-Pape

One of the most famous of selections from France. Named for the "New Chateau" of the Pope, from the times when the Papacy was headquartered in Avignon during the 14th century. The castle (or chateau) was the summer home of the Avignon popes, and is now a ruin.

Varieties: Thirteen different red and white varieties may be blended into Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The most predominant is Grenache, with varying amounts of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault and other Rhône varieties.

Tasting Notes: Powerful and spicy, with great depth, The Caveau des Disciples selection is relatively forward and ready to drink in its youth, but will age well for up to five years.
