Castel Pujol

Tannat

Growing Conditions: The Cerro Chapeu region of northern Uruguay enjoys sunny days and cool nights. The red sandy soils are well drained and permit excellent growing conditions so the grapes can be grown without irrigation. It is here that Castel Pujol raises their fruit to make these fine premium wines

Tasting Notes: Tannat was brought by the French Basque immigrants in the 19th Century. Blended with a small amount of cabernet sauvignon, and lightly aged in oak for nine months, the wine is full bodied and rich but with a soft, pleasant elegance. The dark fruit has an appealing spicy edge. Goes well with any full flavored dish.

Chardonnay

Growing Conditions: The high Rivera District of northern Uruguay enjoys sunny days and cool nights. The red sandy soils are well drained and allow excellent growing conditions, so the grapes can be grown without irrigation.

Tasting Notes: A delightful un-oaked chardonnay with very forward tropical fruit flavours. The mid-palate is soft and smooth, leading to clean, fruit-filled finish. The crisp acidity of the wine permits the matching of a wine range of lighter cuisine.

Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Notes: This 100% Sauvignon Blanc has an intense herbal bouquet, with notes of guava and green apple, leading to a crisp, dry finish. It will be an excellent match with all sorts of seafood and lighter dishes, as well as spicy cuisine.
